Since our inception, SqWires has proudly offered creative modern American cuisine in a beautifully preserved historic setting. Located in the heart of the Lafayette Square neighborhood, our restaurant is housed in the former Western Wire factory, where we’ve retained the charm of the original 19th-century elements while adding modern touches.
Our dining room and bar invite you to enjoy a menu inspired by seasonal ingredients, while our garden patio provides a delightful outdoor experience from spring through fall. The handcrafted steel fireplace, comfortable leather banquette seating, and artistic touches, including works by Mary Sprague, create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
At SqWires, we celebrate local ingredients sourced from our farm partners. Our menu features a diverse array of options, including fresh seafood, prime meats, indulgent desserts, as well as vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dishes. Daily specials highlight the best of seasonally available produce, ensuring each visit offers something new.
Weekend brunch is a popular highlight, featuring a bountiful bloody mary and mimosa bar. Our Tuesday “SqWare” plates are perfect for sharing delicious food with friends. It’s our commitment to exceptional service and genuine hospitality that keeps guests returning time and again.
Just a few minutes from downtown St. Louis, SqWires offers the perfect setting to unwind by the fireplace, enjoy a bottle of wine at a candle-lit table, or select from an extensive array of inventive cocktails, ten local craft beers on draft, and over 50 wines. Live blues and jazz music enhances the dining experience on Thursdays, Fridays, and during weekend brunch.
Owner Bethany Budde-Cohen, a long-time Lafayette Square resident, honors the women in her family who inspired her passion for cooking. “I’m proud of our team, thankful for our partners, and appreciative of our patrons. We couldn’t do it without you.”
SqWires is committed to fostering community and supporting local initiatives. We actively participate in revitalizing the Lafayette Square Historic District, encouraging other businesses to join us and enhancing the neighborhood’s charm. We proudly support causes such as Dining Out For Life and the St. Louis Regional ALS Association, and we sponsor various local events throughout the year.
