Bringing a fresh and vibrant energy to the neighborhood, Picky is a thoughtfully curated urban garden, market, and café. Opening in Summer 2026, Picky looks forward to welcoming you to come in for coffee and a tasty bite, pick up your market staples or grab-and-go meals, hang out in the cozy garden oasis, or relax in a comfy corner.

Created by Erin Budde in collaboration with SqWires, the beloved neighborhood restaurant just across the street that was opened 25 years ago by Erin’s sister, Bethany Budde Cohen, Picky is rooted in the same spirit of community, connection, and good food that defines Lafayette Square.

Picky’s location carries a story rooted in Lafayette Square’s earliest days. Originally constructed in the 1890s as a blacksmith shop, its wide front and rear doors were designed with purpose—allowing horses and carriages to enter from the street and exit through the back. While waiting to be shod inside, horses would graze in what is now the garden space, tying the property’s earliest use directly to the land it still celebrates today.

Picky is located at 1410 South 18th Street in St. Louis City’s National Historic District of Lafayette Square and will be open from 6am-6pm Tuesday-Sunday.
