01 Sep SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER
We always think of September as Back To School Month – But it’s much much more! We’ve been told it’s Mom & Apple Pie Month, with Vegetarian Awareness Week and National Cheeseburger Day included. In some regions, September has been officially declared Locavore Month to celebrate the harvest and cut down on “food miles” – the distance it takes from growing and producing the ingredients to preparation and serving.
SqWires is making the most of this month’s newcomers: apples, pears, cabbages plus the end-of-summer, still-in-season berries, sweet corn, tomatoes and more. Come in for SqWare Plates on Tuesdays and sample the kitchen’s special one-night-only creations for $5 each.
Join us here in Historic Lafayette Square for food-filled fun all month. Friday September 2, make SqWires your home base for a night of exciting criterium bicycle races. Tour d’ Lafayette is the first night of the weekend’s Gateway Cup. Come by for lunch, dinner and drinks before or after the September 10 daytime Vintage Base Ball Game and evening Ralph Butler concert in Lafayette Park. And on September 17 bring the whole family for dinner at SqWires and at dusk walk over to watch A Bug’s Life at Movies in the Park.
Wednesdays try a new wine with our bottles half price with your entree. Grapes from Albarino to Zinfandel are grown to make the wines we’ll help you perfectly pair with our seafood, burgers, salads and all your favorite dishes.
Bring a table full of friends for Seafood Fridays so you can sample and share the $1 fresh shucked oysters and steamed shrimp; the silky oyster stew, shrimp boil, seafood salad and fish tacos.
SqWires Happy Hours 4-7pm are a great time to unwind with drinks and appetizers $2 domestic beers, $3 drafts and house mix drinks, $4 bar’s choice wine.
In September there are countless ways to entertain your business colleagues, friends and family – but only one way to make it unforgettable and fun for everyone – let SqWires plan your events for The Annex or The Front Room. Breakfast, lunch, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, buffets, full service – just your style to fit your budget.
September sounds wouldn’t be the same without music at SqWires. This month come in Friday, Saturday and Sunday to enjoy Tom Hall, Falling Martins, Brian Curran Duo, Curt Landes, Margaret Bianchetta Duo, Usual Suspects Duo, Monica Casey, Big Bamou, Bumblebee Bob Kamoski, Bill Murph, Black Diamond Duo, Steve Bauer Duo, Pennsylvania Slim Duo.
We’ll be here all month, simmering, searing, saucing – you don’t want to miss September at SqWires.
