SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER

03 Sep SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER

In September we’re coming out of summer vacation mode. The weather is just as nice if not nicer than the summer months and may be the best time to enjoy dining on the patio – bring your furry best friends – they’re always welcome. It’s ideal for experiencing the final September 7 concert in Lafayette Park – SqWires will pack a picnic for you. More than the calendar shows, New Year in St Louis is September – the City’s “nouvel an”: the race to a pennant for the Cardinals; the official start of the Rams’ season; all the students back to the classrooms; Rosh Hashanah.

At SqWires we make the most of September’s bounty of produce grown in the garden. Rich tomato soup with pesto, lemonade with fresh berries and fruit, bread pudding with plum and peach, crunchy tempura okra and crispy fried green tomatoes.

September is national Breakfast Month and hosts Biscuits & Gravy Week – we celebrate every Saturday & Sunday starting at 8am. Join us for a proper breakfast and brunch, including the Bloody Mary and Mimosa Bar with all the fixings.

It’s also California Wine Month – come in on Wednesdays for half price bottle of wine and try a startlingly good variety from the California terroir. Since it’s also Mushroom Month maybe pair it with our sauteed wild mushrooms broiled with goat cheese – yum.

On National Cheeseburger Day you can’t beat SqWires grass-fed beef burger (or turkey burger) and add cheese, bacon, caramelized onion, sauteed mushroom, pico for a soul-satisfying treat.

Tuesday – Friday Happy Hours offer great appetizers and drinks. September is Bourbon Heritage Month and Honey Month – what better time to try our houseblended cherry bourbon and honey bourbon cocktails.

Oysters fresh off the boat are irresistible – come in on Fridays 5-7pm for icy fresh-shucked oysters and chilled shrimp $1 each, plus music by Tom Hall.

As Autumn approaches, welcome your friends, family, colleagues with a party or special celebration at SqWires. We’ll help you plan the perfect event with breakfast, lunch, dinner, appetizers, buffet or full service dining in the Annex or Front Room.

Fill up on the whole assortment of SqWires SqWare Plates on Tuesday evenings. Bring your favorite guest and try them all $5 each or 5 for $20.

Indulge in an evening of laid-back music Thursday-Saturday (and at Sunday brunch). In September you can hear Curt Landes, Mayor Taylor, Tom Hall, Pierce Crask, Fine Skyline, Jessi Kocher, Matt Murdick, Bill Forness, Bumblebee Bob Kamoski, Chris Griffith, Brian Curran Duo, Margaret Bianchetta, Bill Murphy.
