01 May MAY NEWSLETTER

Spring makes its way into the Merry Month of May. And at SqWires in Lafayette Square – the historic heart of the City – May brings some of our favorite things including Cinco de Mayo, Derby Day, Mothers Day and Memorial Day.

Monday May 5, our Singer/Songwriter Salon is hosted by Bill Forness and offers light dinner and boissons beginning at 7pm.

May is also National BBQ month – you know how the fragrance of bar-b-que can linger with you and become familiar like an old friend – take a deep breath and follow your nose to SqWires every Thursday beginning May 29 when we are BBQing on the patio 5pm ‘til we run out. We’ll also have Mayor Taylor playing some tunes to make your evening a perfect one.

Remember your Mother! SqWires Sunday May 11 champagne brunch buffet in the Annex or alacarte brunch in the restaurant is the perfect way to relax and celebrate with family and friends. Make your reservations and then sit back and enjoy. The Bloody Mary and Mimosa Bar brings out your creative side as you accessorize your drinks with dozens of choices.

Derby Day brings to mind all things “minty” – so drop by SqWires for a specialty drink mixed with mint from our garden. It’s already up and fragrant.

May 22 is Cocktails on the Plaza right outside our doors by the fountain at 4:30pm. Brought to you by the Lafayette Square Business Association. Your $25 ticket gives you tastes from ten restaurants and bars and music all evening.

What’s growing? We’re cooking with a dazzling array of vegetables, greens and herbs vying for attention. They taste great and are high in nutrition, fresh from farms and gardens throughout the Metropolitan area. Mouth-watering sauteed spinach, grilled asparagus and more appear on our list of daily specials.

Before or after dining, you’ll want to take a stroll through our historic Lafayette Square neighborhood. The sidewalks will take you past delightful water fountains and pockets of green; and you’ll see neighbors sprucing up the park, gardens and homes in preparation for the Spring House and Garden Tour to be held June 7 and 8. We’ll be happy to sell you a ticket for the tour.

With so much to celebrate in May, let us help plan your events – graduation, showers, anniversaries, receptions and any reason to party. The chefs at SqWires help you please all the people, all the time. The Front Room is perfect for up to 70 guests and the Annex is great for up to 200.

Every day is special at SqWires – Tuesday’s SqWare Plates are a weekly special selection of $5 taste treats to mix and match and share. Wednesday’s half-price bottle of wine with your entree is a super opportunity to try new whites, reds, sparklers. Weeknight happy hours drinks and hors d’oeuvres are priced just right for your pocketbook. And Friday night $1 fresh shucked oysters and huge steamed shrimp are the perfect end to a long week.

This May, put some music in your life. At SqWires you can listen to St. Louis favorites Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights and Sunday brunch: Mayor Taylor, Pierce Crask, Chris Griffith, Tommy Halloran, Curt Landes, Bill Forness, Tom Hall, Margaret Bianchetta, Liz and Jim, Matt Murdick, Rebecca Ryan and Leslie Sanazaro, Fine Skyline, Al Oxenhandler, Bob “Bumblebee” Kamoski, Bill Murphy, Laura Green and Tim Garcia.

During May come on in and Eat, Drink and Be Merry.
