St. Louis’ most ardent food-lovers are regulars at SqWires. Our seasonal menu features fresh interpretations of classic American cuisine. Our chefs prepare the freshest seafood, prime meats, and indulgent desserts with our trademark simplicity and richness of flavor.

Located in the historic Lafayette Square neighborhood, in the former Western Wire Factory, SqWires’ setting is a picture-perfect renovation of an old Victorian building. We preserved original 19th century elements and added a handcrafted steel fireplace and comfortable leather banquette seating in the dining room. We’ve hung oils by Mary Sqrague and feature restored overhead factory pulley systems, industrial ceiling fans, exposed brick and beams to create a notable setting for you to meet and eat and drink. We’ve made it handy for you to get online at SqWires with our wireless network. Our outdoor dining is available to enjoy the St. Louis weather in spring and summer.

Just a 3 minute cab ride from downtown, you can relax by the fireplace or dine at the bar and enjoy a bottle of wine at a candle-lit table or select a favorite single malt scotch or imported or domestic brew. With an extensive martini menu, ten local craft beers on draft, 50 wines and full bar the choices are sure to please whatever the occasion. The best of local blues and jazz musicians play during dinner on Thursdays, happy hour on Fridays, and Saturday & Sunday brunch.

Bethany Budde-Cohen, owner of SqWires Restaurant, is also a long-time Lafayette Square resident.  One of St. Louis’ pioneers presenting seasonal menus featuring locally grown produce from area farms, artisanal cheeses, sausage, baked goods, ice cream and more, all locally made. “I love creating local food traditions and neighborhood cuisine; bringing people to enjoy Lafayette Square hospitality.”

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

SqWires has been a linchpin for renewed development in the Lafayette Square Historic District – encouraging other restaurants and retail establishments to locate there, promoting the neighborhood and its events, and providing the initial support for development of the Park Avenue Plaza, an improvement project on the Lafayette Square Long Range Plan. The $1 million block-long plaza has gardens, park benches and a splashing fountain and is a gathering place and picturesque spot for events.

SqWires has been a top restaurant contributor to Dining Out For Life, has assisted the St. Louis Regional ALS Association in raising funds by donating breakfast, lunch & dinner for participants in their annual golf outing. SqWires sponsors Lafayette Square events throughout the year, including the Tour d’Lafayette bicycle races, Vintage Base Ball Tournaments in Lafayette Park. As the hospitality sponsor, SqWires hosts and donates the after House Tour dinner for all volunteers at the Lafayette Square Spring House & Garden Tour and the December Holiday Parlour Tour.
